Twisted Fusion with Max Chapman at The Source Bar ,Maidstone 12th August 2017

On 12th August the illustrious Twisted Fusion made their debut at Kent's leading underground venue, The Source Bar. Twisted Fusion, the product of artist Apollo 84 has been making a name for itself in the scene since its inception only a short time ago. Fitting to the name the brand's aim is to fuse the many sounds that make up the House genre and branch away from one standardised sound. Acting as a platform for this style of music the label has signed creations from Raffa FL, SEFF and Jacky just to name a few. More recently they've taken the brand to a global scale with a monthly radio broadcast and on the road with showcases spanning to Amsterdam Dance Event, Sankeys Manchester, LYT in Ibiza and now Kent.

Along with label boss Apollo 84 on the lineup he's brought with him some paramount additions including Max Chapman, Twisted Fusions regulars Jack Dee & Ross Donworth and local star Rob Cockerton.

The Courtyard room of the venue was hosted by local upcoming brand Motive, these guys are definitely ones to watch as they continue to grow from strength to strength. Click here to check out our last full review for Motive's previous takeover of the Source.

DJ Sets

Rob Cockerton

The Maidstone local and Social Festival resident had the pleasure of returning to his previous regular stomping ground and he did so in top fashion. Rob has had a busy few years being a feature for brands like The Social Festival, Abode and Good Morning Midnight, consistently delivering the goods. This set was no exception as he brought with him some bass heavy bangers to the main room of The Source, including his brand new release on Abode Records "Groove To The Beat". This new track has been making waves across the UK and on the white isle of Ibiza with continued support from abode resident; GW harrison. Rob demonstrated just why he deserves to be affiliated with top brands with some brilliant track selection and the perfect build up to get the crowd ready and raring for what Max Chapman was about to unleash on the decks.

Max Chapman
Next up was the powerhouse Max Chapman bringing his high energy selection to The Source Bar. The Essex based DJ/Producer has had a great deal of success since bursting onto the underground house scene back in 2011, including launching his own label "Resonance Records". Production has been a strong point for Max with his huge track "Body Jack" reaching the top spot of the beatport charts as overall number one across all genres. He hasn't stopped there, having had releases on reputable labels such as Hot Creations, VIVa, Madtech and Elrow. With names like that under his belt we couldn't wait to see what he had to deliver. His set was full of powerful tech house stompers and he brought an armoury of tracks with him including his latest release on Hot Creations, "La Fiesta". A track that fuels the crowd and gets everyone moving. Another highlight of the night was Mirco Caruso, "Bad Ass" blasting its way onto The Source's speakers. It was a faultless set and we definitely look forward to seeing Max Chapman again in the future.

Apollo 84
Having previously been blown away by Apollo 84 at the Haynes & Friends party at The Cuban in Canterbury back in April, we were eager to see the Twisted Fusion head honcho again at The Source Bar. Complementing the ethos of his own brand he brings a creative mix of hard hitting & high tempo tech house beats; a perfect blend to invigorate the crowd and keep them dancing through till the very end of his set. Dropping one of the latest releases, "Lets Move" from his Twisted Fusion label was a big highlight from the set for us, one that really drew the crowd in and had them locked into the intimate main room of the venue. Another fine moment was when Apollo played his "La Bestia" track, keeping the atmosphere at a peak level as we went further into the night.

Courtyard
Motive were the hosts of the courtyard for the night and yet again they didn't disappoint. Following their impressive full club takeover at The Source whilst also hosting "The Loft" at Egg LDN, you can already tell these lads are set for big things in the future. The courtyard was packed out from start to finish; something which can be a tough feat on its own but  even more so with the Twisted Fusion showcase on at the same time. They fully held their own and delivered a solid offering in the courtyard; demonstrating that they're here to stay. They enticed the crowd with their pumping house beats, spanning across the genre with vocal and tech house being a mainstay in their sets. We look forward to hopefully seeing the boys running a full club takeover again soon.

Overall

As a whole the night was a big statement for Twisted Fusion, Motive & The Source Bar. Twisted Fusion's debut night in Maidstone couldn't have gone much better with faultless sets throughout and a happy crowd to match. We wouldn't be surprised to see Apollo 84's brand back on the bill here for another showcase very soon. As for Motive it was another strong night, keeping the courtyard packed out until the final beat with their pumping sound all night long. Finally, The Source Bar once again acting as a key player in cementing the area's footprint in the scene. Another renowned brand who have brought with them another big headliner, pulling the crowds in every weekend. With many more big events coming up, The Source Bar is definitely the place to be. 4/5.
