5 acts to see at Dreambeach Villaricos 2018

Spain's festival phenomenon returns this August

Dreambeach is the gift that keeps on giving. Returning for it's 6th edition, the mammoth Spanish festival features a truly eclectic line up yet again, with something to tickle everyone's musical taste buds. Previous instalments have seen the industry's biggest names grace the golden sands of Villaricos. Last year, thousands of tickets sold before even the first headliner announcement, demonstrating the popularity the festival has gained over the years. Dreambeach 2018 will host many returning worldly renowned artists, along with some new faces who've been lighting up the scene in the past 12 months.

While it's virtually impossible to narrow down the five best acts, here's our top picks who'll be making some serious noise over the long weekend.

1. Solomun
Up first is the after party king himself, the 2012 Mixmag DJ of the year and one of our personal favourite artists; Solomun. With previous residencies at Pacha and Ushuaia, along with one of Boiler Room's fastest growing videos of all time, Solomun has engineered his very own signature style. Known for taking his audiences on emotional and spiritual journeys through his sets, with a combination of melodic, deep house and euphoric techno. His sublime track selection will have thousands of Dreambeach revellers hooked from start to finish.

2. Amelie Lens
If you like your music heavy and hard hitting, then Belgium’s techno queen needs to be on your to do list. The past 12 months have seen Amelie Lens spring into the scene, quickly becoming a fan favourite with her energy and enthusiasm behind the decks. You can find her trekking across the globe week in, week out, giving exhilarating performances full of power-driven tracks. Her quick-fire start has already led to appearances at huge events including Awakenings in Netherlands and Circoloco at DC-10 in Ibiza. With no signs of slowing down any time soon, in-demand would be an understatement for Amelie and it would be a sin to miss her blow the roof in Villaricos!

3. Loco Dice
Hailing from Tunis, the northern capital of Tunisia, is an artist recognised far and wide for his creative flair and passionate performances. A natural ear for manipulating beats has led Yassine Ben Achour to becoming the innovative DJ/producer known as Loco Dice. His time in the scene boasts a vast catalog of tracks, landing on renowned labels such as M_nus, Ovum, Cocoon and his very own Desolat. Beginning his journey as a hip hop DJ and rapper, Loco has paved his way towards the top, by entwining his previous musical roots into the soul of his house & techno sets. The hugely respected veteran of the scene is now widely known for his energetic, funky track selection that busts dance moves all over the world.

4. Richie Hawtin
Our fourth top pick is a self made maverick of modern sound. 20 years in the game has seen this musical visionary become a figurehead across multiple genres. Setting the standard with his production and pioneering his own ground-breaking live performances, which have been displayed all over the world. Richie consistently raises the bar in his sets, testing and demonstrating his ability. Away from the dance floor has seen the British-born performer design the MODEL 1 mixer, now used around the world by leading artists, including Carl Cox. There’s no doubt the MODEL 1 Mixer will be in full swing at Dreambeach, with Richie Hawtin at the helm, commanding the dance floor.

5. Patrick Topping b2b Skream
The release of a Patrick Topping & Skream b2b jumped straight into our top picks. Two masters of their crafts, with an abundance of skill, knowledge and technical ability between them. Newcastle-born selector Patrick Topping has slingshotted his way to tech house fame with his ingenious production. The man behind the future classic 'Be Sharp Say Nowt', has a discography to send any crowd into a frenzy. Patty T's Dreambeach partner in crime is Croydon's most prized asset; Oliver Jones, aka Skream. The former magnetic man's sets ooze inspiration from other genres. His release on Crosstown Rebels, 'You Know, Right' being a prime example with it's garage undertones - An inkling of what to expect in Villaricos! Skream's energy behind the booth also tends to be infectious, luring the crowd into his sets, track by track.

Having gone b2b on more than one occasion, their styles bounce off one another effortlessly. The emphatic atmosphere created between themselves, the music and their crowd leaves the momentum continuously building, and never fails to disappoint. Combine them with the picturesque settings of Dreambeach, and this set will be one to remember!

If those five aren't enough for you, there's plenty more acts across house, techno, EDM and hardstyle. Check out the full line up here.
